Second silver score for Mila Supasecure

Mila fabricators now have more choice in high security stainless steel door hardware with the Mila SupaSecure TS007 two-star escutcheon, which has achieved the same Silver grading in the Master Locksmith’s Sold Secure attack test as the Mila SupaSecure door handle.

Mila’s Technical Director Strafford Cooke said: “The Sold Secure attack test is more intense and more sustained than the PAS24 security test. It uses a more ‘heavy duty’ set of tools, which includes an electric drill, longer crow bars and even a scaffolding pole for greater leverage; and the tester has a full five minutes per tool rather than three to try to attack the escutcheon with full force to access the cylinder.

“It’s so arduous that the received wisdom used to be that the maximum rating achievable by door hardware was Bronze. Mila’s SupaSecure products have obviously changed all that and we’re very proud to have raised the bar in this sector.”

Part of the reason for the products’ success in the Sold Secure attack test is their inherent strength – both are investment cast in Mila’s Supa stainless steel, which is the same process typically used for aerospace components. Both also have features such as chamfered backplate shoulders and a rotating anti-drill disc.

Strafford added: “In both the handle and the escutcheon tests, the doors eventually showed some signs of damage, but the Mila SupaSecure products emerged almost completely unscathed. That’s testament to both the quality and design.”

Unsurprisingly, the Mila SupaSecure escutcheon and handle both come with 25-year guarantees on the mechanical operation and the surface finish.
