New IGU line at UKO Glass

UKO Glass has installed the Liva 1‑LCYM‑S 25‑321/6, which can produce up to 500m2 per day. It can handle glass from 3mm to 19mm thick, manufacture triple glazed units up to 70mm thick and oversized units up to 3.2m x 2.5m using the built-in tilt table.

The machine incorporates an advanced press and washing system, and one of the system’s key innovations is its automated gas-filling functionality, the company said. By filling units inside the press using built‑in calculations, the system eliminates the need for manual gas filling, reducing labour time, and ensuring each unit is ready for sealing once exiting the press.

The machine’s intelligent detection technology automatically identifies whether the glass is coated and confirms correct orientation before processing. This feature dramatically reduces the risk of human error and a more streamlined workflow.

UKO Glass has also installed a new Schiavo Cross Belt arising machine, which delivers a consistently high‑quality edge finish across all glass products. This enhanced precision helps to reduce breakages, improving both the reliability and the overall efficiency of the toughening process, the company said.

The investment plays a key role in supporting UKO Glass’s move toward a five‑day lead time for toughened insulated glass units (IGUs).
